Owe No Man Anything, But To Love One Another

love one another

Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law. (Rom13:8niv)

REVELATION:

Interestingly, to love each other is not a request, a suggestion but rather a command. We have to make a conscious choice to love one another. The good news is that as you love, you will find that you attract other loving people. That doesn’t mean you will not encounter the unlovable people but it’s always a measure of how your love capacity has grown. We are aiming to have the ability to love others including ourselves, as Jesus Christ loved us.

I have learnt over the years that loving involves:
• Giving love
• Receiving love
It’s usually easy for us to give love and show acts of kindness but my question to you is.
• Do you have the ability to receive love?
• When people show you acts of kindness are you able to receive them?
A common example is when a lady receives a compliment. E.g.
Sara: “That’s a cute dress”.
Lisa: “Oh… this old thing, I bought it at the thrift store 3 years ago”.
Clearly Lisa has dismissed the compliment. The correct Response would be: “Thank you, I love this dress it flatters my curves”.
The point is, be mindful of GIVING love and RECEIVING love from others.

This verse also reminded me of the attitude of borrowing that has taken over our culture. It has become so normal to borrow that most people do it unconsciously e.g. using credit cards is borrowing from your future moneys to take care of the present expenses. A borrower is slave to the lender (Pro22:7niv) irrespective of the prior relationship of the parties involved.
According to the dictionary, “slave” is defined as a person who is the legal property of another and is forced to obey them. So not only are you a legal property but every instruction or parameter the owner sets on you, you have to comply with. Your opinion is irrelevant.
E.g. if daughter borrows from mother, at some point family dinners will start feeling uncomfortable, it’s like that pink elephant in the room that everybody sees but no one has the guts to talk about. And if the daughter dares to mention she is planning a vacation or engaging in any expenditures the mother doesn’t agree with, all the judgmental looks and speeches will follow.

The bottom-line is, we have guidelines for living a fruitful life while minimizing the pitfalls of this current culture.
• Search for the truth and it shall set you free.
• Stay excited and joyful that your harvest is around the corner.
Remember, The level of your expectation will determine the level of return. “And blessed is she that believed; for there shall be a fulfillment of those things which were told her from the Lord.” (Luk1:45kj21). Let it be unto you depending on your faith.
