It’s Time to Set SMART Goals

Write the vision
 and make it plain. Writing your vision is one thing, making it clear and plain is a whole different ballgame. Contrary to the popular way of doing things, November is the ideal time to start setting your goals for next year.

Have you observed an aircraft taking off, the crank power it uses before takeoff is unbelievably high. It’s that power that allows the plane to lift off the ground. The power has to be maintained for the plane to continue rising.

Similarly, this is a great time to start setting your goals and start implementation. When January comes around, your momentum will be already high. You have to maintain the momentum in order to reach greater heights.

For goals to be successfully implemented, it involves

  1. SMART written goals (specific, measurable, attainable, reachable, trackable). Ask yourself, why, when, where and how
  2. Mindset change to focus on your goals
  3. Modified environment to nurture the success of the new goals
  4. Tools, which may involve networking with other people, time, money, acquiring new skills etc.…

Therefore, as you write your goals, Find out what you need for the implementation to be a success. I know most of you have plenty on your plate. The goal is to eliminate and focus on what works. The focused intensity will propel you to new heights. Let’s live with the motto, LESS IS MORE. You will be surprised at how much more you are able to achieve with less.

PLEASE NOTE: For the vision is yet for an appointed time;
But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie.
Though it tarries, wait for it;
Because it will surely come,
It will not tarry. (Hab2:3nkjv). Don’t be quick to give up, as you accomplish your goals. If you know beyond a doubt this is the direction the Lord is leading you, stick with it for it will surely speak at the end.

Plan of Action:

  1. Set your goals for next year, Start NOW!
  2. Write them down (SMART – specific, measurable, accountable, reachable, tractable)
  3. Get an accountability partner
  4. Eliminate. Less is more
  5. Get the tools you need
  6. Modify your environment

Happy goal setting…. Like Zig Ziglar says, See you at the top

Referenced verse: Then the Lord answered me and said: “Write the vision
And make it plain on tablets,
That he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time;
But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie.
Though it tarries, wait for it;
Because it will surely come,
It will not tarry. “Behold the proud,
His soul is not upright in him;
But the just shall live by his faith. (Hab2:2-4nkjv)
